As Account Support Executive,
You play a vital role in supporting the end-to-end deal lifecycle within a designated sales territory, overseeing deal progress, ensuring timely execution, and acting as a key liaison between Sales, Operations, and other stakeholders.
You will drive the successful execution of our most strategic and complex deals, balancing strict compliance requirements with evolving customer needs. Your regional expertise and attention to detail will help foster operational excellence, improve customer engagement, and ensure adherence to internal processes.
As a trusted advisor, your strong communication skills, problem-solving mindset, and solid understanding of internal policies will enable you to guide stakeholders through challenges with clarity and confidence, ensuring seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Monitoring & Execution: Track all deals (both new and renewal) within the assigned territory to ensure timely delivery and alignment with internal milestones.
- Work With Dashboards: Track customers’ procurement and invoicing requirements, including monitoring age of paperwork, Access Extensions, purchase order processes, and process exceptions flagged by Operations.
- Delinquency Management: Address account-level delinquencies by coordinating with relevant stakeholders to drive resolution.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with customers, particularly around contested renewals and title-related discussions, ensuring a responsive and informed experience.
- Contract Review & Redlining: Support redlining and documentation for renewals and new business opportunities.
- Regional Documentation: Maintain and update documentation of region-specific processes and requirements to ensure operational accuracy and consistency.
- Lead Deal Coordination: Partner with Sales, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to structure and execute complex, high-value deals in line with Elsevier’s policies and strategic priorities.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain rigorous adherence to internal controls, pricing policies, and approval processes while adapting to evolving customer requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a central point of contact across departments, ensuring alignment and timely resolution of deal-related issues.
- Problem Solving & Advisory: Apply critical thinking and policy knowledge to navigate challenges and propose practical, compliant solutions.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve deal desk operations and streamline workflows.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of deal terms, approvals, and exceptions, and provide insights to support business decisions.
To be successful, you’ll bring with you:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in sales operations, customer support, account coordination, or a similar administrative role.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Fluency in Japanese (native) and English (business level) is required, as the role involves customer communication in Japanese and internal meetings, training, and cross-regional collaboration in English.
- Strong understanding of deal structuring, pricing models, and contract workflows.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Proven ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments and influence without authority.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams and regions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working with contracts, redlining, and documentation processes.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), or other ERP tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset.

- Knowledge of invoicing processes, purchase order workflows, and sales processes.
